Materials That You Need For Chocolate Layer Cake
For Preparation of Cake Layers
- 2 c. all-purpose flour
- 1 c. unsweetened cocoa
- 1.50 tsp. baking soda
- 0.25 tsp. salt
- 0.75 c. butter or margarine
- 1 c. packed brown sugar
- 1 c. granulated sugar
- 3 large eggs
- 2 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1.50 c. low-fat buttermilk
For Preparation of Frosting
- 0.33 c. unsweetened cocoa
- 0.33 c. boiling water
- 1 c. butter or margarine
- 2 tbsp. confectioners’ sugar
- 12 oz. semisweet chocolate
Preparation of Chocolate Layer Cake
Preheat oven to 350F and take 3 8-in. round cake pans. Place waxed papers to the bottom and grease these papers, dust all of them with flour, set aside.
Take flour, cocoa, baking soda, and salt on another waxed paper and combine all. Take a large bowl and add butter and brown and granulated sugars; beat all of them with mixer at low speed until blended. Then increase speed high and beat for 5 more minutes. Reduce the speed low and add eggs one by one; do not add second egg after you beat first one. Then beat in vanilla. Add flour mixture alternately with buttermilk and you should beat them well until the mixture become smooth. Pour these mixture into pans and bake for 20-25minutes. Let them cool in pans for 10 minutes, then remove from pans and cool for 45 minutes.
For frosting; take a small bowl and combine cocoa and boiling water until they become smooth. Take butter and confectioners’ sugar in large bowl and beat them with mixer at medium speed for 5 minutes. Reduce speed to low and add melted chocolate, then add cocoa mixture and mix them until the mixture becomes smooth.
Take first cake and spread 1/3 of frosting over. Place second layer and spread 1/3 of frosting over. Finally place last cake and spread remaining frosting all over the cake.
