Materials That You Need For Strawberry Layer Cake
For Preparation of Cake
- 1 1/4 cups sliced strawberries
- 10 ounce all-purpose flour (about 2 1/4 cups)
- 2 1/4 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 2 large eggs
- 2 large egg whites
- 1 cup low-fat buttermilk
- 1/4 teaspoon red food coloring
- Cooking spray
For Preparation of Frosting
- 1/3 cup (3 ounces) 1/3-less-fat cream cheese
- 1/3 cup softened butter
- 2 tablespoons Grand Marnier (orange-flavored liqueur)
- 3 cups powdered sugar
Preparation of Strawberry Layer Cake
Start with preheat oven 350F
For cake, take strawberries and slice them. Then put into food processor and run they become smooth.
Take 2 8-inch cake pans and coat both of them with cooking spray.
Combine flour, baking powder, and salt by mixing them. Take granulated sugar and 1/2 cup butter in another bowl and mix with electrical mixer until they all well mixed. Add eggs one by one and beat well after every addition. After that; beat in egg whites too. Add flour and buttermilk on the sugar mixture slowly. Finally add pureed strawberries and food coloring for color. Mix them well. Divide this mixture to cake pans and bake them for 30 minutes. Then leave them cool for 10 minutes pan, remove the pans.
For frosting, take cream cheese, 1/3 cup butter, and liqueur in a mixing bowl and beat all of them with electrical mixer on medium speed until well blended. Slowly add powdered sugar and continue beat.
Take first cake on service plate and pour ½ of frosting on it. Then place second cake and cover all over the cake with remaining frosting. Cut one of the strawberries into slices; then decorate the top. Use rest of them for sides like picture.
